One of the biggest projects on the horizon for the organization is a new expansion at LSS at Meramec Bluffs. One of Kienstra’s former employers, PARIC Construction, will begin work on the site’s newest wing in October, bringing 46 new senior living apartments to West St. Louis County.
The new addition will complete the original master building plan laid out for Meramec Bluffs in 2000. "It’s an exciting thing to see a campus like Meramec Bluffs take shape after so many years growing," said Mark Schoedel, vice president of construction and technology. "While we aren’t ruling out future expansions, this is definitely a milestone for the campus, and for LSS as a whole."
Elsewhere, LSS at Heisinger Bluffs continues to make plans for a new addition of its own. The Jefferson City community is working toward expanding its chapel into a dual purpose worship area and activity room. The lower level of the proposed wing would house a senior fitness center, which would bring a much-needed resource to central Missouri.
