Introduces LSS Hospice Care

On October 10, 2007, Lutheran Senior Services (LSS) received licensure by the state of Missouri to begin operations of a hospice agency in the St. Louis metro area. This extension of LSS' ministries offers a new faith-driven resource for people who need end of life care.

“We are thrilled to be granted our license to operate,” said Marcia Eckrich, LSS In-Home Services administrator. “We started fulfilling the state’s requirements back in August. This past week, a state surveyor spent 2½ days reviewing our charts, patient records, employee files and more. No deficiencies were found and she complimented the staff on the quality patient care, teamwork, and communication skills she observed.”

 

LSS Hospice Care is a full-service hospice that provides specialized care for people with life-limiting illnesses and supportive services for their families. It is care that may be considered when an individual chooses to no longer undergo medical treatments designed to cure. Pain control and symptom management for the person receiving care along with spiritual, psychological and social services for that individual and his or her family are the hallmarks of our hospice. LSS Hospice Care is available for LSS residents and others in the community who would benefit from these services.

The director of LSS Hospice Care is Cheri Murphy, RN. She has over 12 years of home health and hospice experience. Dr. Ehab Kaiser, a name many LSS residents and employees will recognize, is the LSS Hospice Care Medical Director. Other members of the LSS Hospice Care Team are: Rosalie Hentrich, RN, Case Manager; Jan Rellergert, RN, Case Manager; Sharon Agne, RN, Case Manager; Nathan Ruback, LSS Chaplain & Bereavement Coordinator; Elizabeth Pennycook, MSW, Social Worker and Volunteer Coordinator; and Theresa Bequette, CNA.
