Clinical Pastoral Education ... Assisting with Pastoral Care are Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) chaplains-in-training. Six student chaplains are on campus eleven weeks during the summer. Six others serve as Interns from September through May. CPE is designed to bring students into supervised encounter with persons who have spiritual or emotional concerns. Out of an intense involvement with persons in need, and the feedback from peers and teachers, students develop new awareness of themselves as ministers and the needs of those to whom they minister. Half of the students' 45 hour week is spent in ministry with residents, staff and families. This gives our Pastoral Care Department extra depth and allows more time in one-on-one ministry to our residents.
